There are city maps of Geneva available free at the airport information desk. It may be a good idea to collect one in case you stray from the directions, or if you want to visit the city centre and lakeside en route.
When you hire a car from the International arrivals area of the airport the car will be parked in the underground car park, as directed by the hire company staff. Once you have found the car, follow the exit signs (sortie) in the car park and take a ticket when you reach the first barrier. Use this ticket to get out of the car park at the main exit barrier. You do not need any money for this.
Don’t forget to keep your passports handy in case you need to show them at the Swiss/French border.
When clear of the car park follow the road on which you come out, which is the only
way out of the airport. Almost immediately, you will see green and white autoroute
signs for France. Follow these along a straight stretch of road through several
sets of traffic lights and then look for the sign to France to the left as you approach
yet more traffic lights. Go left here and up the slip road. At the top of which
is yet another set of lights. Go right here and down on to the autoroute. If you
miss this left turn, don’t worry; keep going through more lights until you come to
a T-
Stay on this and go through the Swiss/French border crossing. After the border post follow the blue and white autoroute signs for France and Chamonix Mont Blanc. After about 3 km you will join the autoroute A40 down a right hand curving slip road. Keep on autoroute A40 following signs for Chamonix Mont Blanc, and stay on this to Junction 21 Passy. You will go through 2 tolls (1.60 and 3.40 euros) so a credit card or some euros will be useful. Just before junction 21 you will see a sign, <Prochaine sortie Les Contamines Montjoie>.
Turn off at Junction 21 and go right at end of slip road. At the second roundabout go left and into Le Fayet, going straight over another roundabout. In Le Fayet there is a sharp left corner just by a small power station and the Parc Thermal. Take first right at the roundabout immediately after left corner. Drive up hill to St Gervais les Bains.
Go through centre of St Gervais and follow road round sharp bend to right. Take second exit from roundabout opposite Petit Casino supermarket. Go out of town and up hill to LCM on the D902.

If you are arriving between 4pm and 6pm Saturday
When you arrive in Les Contamines continue through the village, just after the centre you will see a garage on your right and a bar opposite called the ‘Servan’. Either my Father or myself will be waiting there with your keys. At that point we will give you a map to your apartment or chalet.
If you are arriving after 6pm Saturday, or on another day of the week.
Chalet rentals – we will make special arrangements with you in advance.
Apartment rentals – the collection point will be my apartment, Appt 1, 275 route du Plan du Moulin.
As you arrive in Les Contamines you will pass through an area called Tresse, at the end of this area on your left you will see the ‘Auberge du Chalezan’, 100m further up the road there is a right turn (Y junction) take the right turn, the signs are for the ‘Domaine skiable’. Follow this road for 2 kms, you will go over 3 speed bumps, when you get to the fourth you will see a restaurant on your right,’ L’Air du Temps’, I live in this building, the entry door id just to the left or the restaurant as you look at the building, my apartment is on the ground floor at the back behind the stair case, No. 1.

LES CONTAMINES TO GENEVA AIRPORT
SWISS SIDE HIRE CAR RETURN
Go down the hill from Les Contamines on the D902 into St Gervais and Le Fayet. At the roundabout in Le Fayet turn left following the blue signs for Geneve and the A40. When you come to the roundabout opposite Intermarche supermarket go right, over another roundabout and then first left immediately going under the autoroute bridge. There are signs for A40 and Geneva.
After the second toll booth follow signs for Paris and Aeroport and go up a long hill. Look out for signs to Lausanne and Aeroport and follow these turning right off the A40 onto the E25/A1.
Go through the border post and then follow the signs for the aeroport. You will go through 3 tunnels and then take a right slip road off the autoroute (opposite the Movenpick Hotel). Go up the slip road and as you approach airport follow signs for Passagers and Arrive. Don’t follow signs for Depart.
Keep to left hand lane as you cross motorway, go through traffic lights and go down a ramp following for arrivals car park and look out for Rental Car Return on right of ramp. Go into car park and take ticket, follow rental car signs and put ticket into slot to get into rental area. Follow signs for relevant hire car company.
