Car hire

All the big names operate out of Geneva, as half the airport is in France and the other half in Switzerland you can hire both French and Swiss cars. However getting in and out of the French side is a pain and if possible avoid it. If you can’t you will find directions here to get you out of the airport and back in again! Remember to order and check that you have snow chains and a ski rack, it is illegal to drive in this area without snow chains in the winter

Self-drive

If you are driving all the directions you may need are here. The following website (all in English for easier use) is useful for route planning and if you have mobile internet with you it can also be used to check the flow on the motorways and is updated every two minutes - an excellent tool for busy holiday Saturdays. Don’t forget snow chains.
